• One final point is that although learning Swadaya is recommended, it is optional. In the lessons on learning Aramaic - the Learning Aramaic for Beginners series - we show examples in Ashuri and Estrangela scripts, but we don’t show examples in Serta or Swadaya. This is because we don’t want to overwhelm beginners. We don’t want to make beginners think you can’t even get started in Aramaic until you have first learned all four alphabets. But once you have learned the Ashuri and Estrangela alphabets, those examples are equally applicable to the Serta and Swadaya scripts.
