• One final point is that learning Serta is recommended, but optional. In the lessons on learning Aramaic - the Aramaic for Beginners series - we show examples in Ashuri and Estrangela scripts, but we don’t show examples in Serta. This is because we don’t want to overwhelm beginners. We don’t want to make beginners think you can’t even get started in Aramaic until you have learned all three alphabets. But once you have learned the Estrangela and Serta alphabets, the examples in Estrangela are equally applicable to Serta.
