- To an extent, the scripts are all interchangeable. It is similar to changing font on a computer, except that we have to use the ‘correct’ font for the correct text and time period. Biblical Aramaic and the Targums, for instance, are ONLY written in Ashuri script. The Peshitta Old Testament and the Peshitta New Testament can be written in anything - in Ashuri, in Estrangela, or in Serta, according to time period, or your own personal preference.
