- The Roman Empire is extremely important and interesting for Aramaic, because it was the Empire into which Jesus of Nazareth was born. These times are very important for Bible prophecy too, because they are the times in which the Temple in Jerusalem is destroyed by the Roman armies in A.D. 70, the destruction of Massada in A.D. 73, and Micah’s prophecy that Jerusalem would be ploughed like a field, which happened in A.D. 135 under the Roman Emperor Hadrian, as a result of the Bar Kochba Revolt.
- The first prophecy that mentions the Roman Empire coming against God’s people, Israel, is in the well-known chapter of the Blessings and the Cursings to the Jewish people in Deuteronomy chapter 28.
