- Interestingly, as Christianity spread east, that whole history is largely a history of how Syriac - that is, Aramaic, the Aramaic Peshitta New Testament - spread east. Right from the middle of the first century A.D., the Aramaic Peshitta New Testament was taken east, preached as far as India and beyond, and Aramaic has been used ever since then.
