- But the next beast, a leopard with the wings of a bird, represents the Greek Empire. A leopard is an incredibly swift, powerful animal. The Greek empire, travelling so fast that it appeared to fly through country after country, swept all the way from the west, from Greek, Macedonia, as far east as India - just like the Persian Empire before it. The four heads of the Greek beast represent the four generals who would inherit, and divide, the Greek empire after the sudden and unexpected death of Alexander the Great, as we shall see in more detail in our next lesson about The Maccabean Revolt.
