• In the west, in Europe, towards the end of the fourth century A.D., Jerome produces the Latin Vulgate translation, and this is pushed by the ruling religious authorities above all other versions - above the Hebrew Old Testament, above the Greek New Testament, above the LXX (or Septuagint), and above the Aramaic New Testament (the Peshitta).
