- Before we conclude this lesson, let us think some more about the term “Church Fathers”. The Church Fathers were the early historians of the Christian Church, recording how church doctrine changed and steadily departed from the Holy Scriptures, from “the faith once delivered unto the saints”, as the Epistle of Jude describes it. Eusebius records this falling away, as heretical ideas start to enter into the church, as the apostles die and can no longer defend the Holy Scriptures against the heretics.
- But when most people think of “the Church Fathers”, they will think of the voluminous records of the Ante-Nicene Church Fathers and the Post-Nicene Church Fathers. Those Church Fathers wrote primarily in Greek and Latin.
