Aramaic
and the Babylonian Empire
- In these lessons on the history and background of Aramaic, we have looked at how ancient the Aramaic language is. In fact, we saw that Aramaic appears right back in the early chapters of Genesis. We looked at the Assyrian Empire, which arose out of the table of nations in Genesis chapter 10, and we saw that the Assyrians spoke Aramaic, in their many dealings and interactions with the Israelites in the Old Testament.
